This paper provides a conceptual overview of the developments Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and derives challenges opportunities for future mechanical engineering profession. The broadly defines 4IR as fusion technologies interaction across physical, digital biological aspects, while defining "a multi-faceted discipline that encompasses teaching, practice guidance others in development application scientific principles to systems". looks specifically at Internet Things (IoT), blockchain technology, robotics, Big Data analytics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, 3D printing artificial intelligence their impact on engineering. It will also explain emerging fields such electronic vehicles, mechatronics others. aim is show world age 4IR, which be felt all professions, although scale general scope particular cannot yet properly assessed. concludes by stating era, professions extent accurately estimated. ends with recommendation importance soft skills.
